You have the ability to stop the spread of coronavirus! By following some simple steps- you can protect yourself, loved ones, and neighbors. The strain of coronavirus, covid-19 has swept nations worldwide. It was first identified in the United States on January 21st, 2019. Now, it’s up to all of us to stop the spread of the virus. By following guidelines from the CDC and WHO, we can mitigate the disease’s effects on our communities.
First, it’s important to understand how the virus is transmitted. It is understood to spread through close person-to-person contact. If an infected person coughs or sneezes on you, you are susceptible to contracting the virus. Additionally, the virus can be spread by touching public surfaces.
Because of this, it is recommended to avoid close contact with others. If you are in public, you should keep a healthy distance of 3-6 feet from strangers. More effectively, you can practice social distancing by avoiding public events and stay home. Practicing social distancing requires sacrifices to be made. However, if all Americans make an effort to practice social distancing, the negative effects of the coronavirus can be avoided.
In addition to minding your personal space and staying home, you should practice proper hygiene. Simple tasks like washing your hands and using hand sanitizes prevent you from getting sick or passing the virus onto others. If your hands are unwashed, you should avoid touching your face until they are clean.
It’s also important to keep your surroundings clean. Disinfecting frequently touched surfaces will kill lingering viruses. It is recommended to use EPA-registered disinfectants, alcohol solutions, or diluted household bleach.
The CDC states that the usage of face masks are unnecessary for healthy people. You should wear one if you are caring for the sick or do have an illness. If you do have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, then you should seek medical assistance.
As Americans, we are resilient and will overcome this challenge together. By adopting practices of social distancing and good hygiene, you protect yourself and your community.
